Intune Proactive Remediations, also known as Remediation Scripts, provide IT admins with the ability to automate fixing common issues on managed devices. By creating detection scripts that identify problems and remediation scripts that resolve them, admins can save time and reduce errors.

Creating Detection and Remediation Script Pairs

To create a remediation script in Intune, you’ll first need to write a detection script. This script should check for the issue on the device and return a specific result (e.g., success or failure). Once the detection script is ready, you can create the corresponding remediation script that fixes the issue.

Packaging and Scheduling Proactive Remediation Runs

After creating your scripts, package them as a Remediation Script in Intune. You can then schedule how often you want these remediations to run on the devices under management.

Common Use Cases and Monitoring Results

  • Clearing temp files: Removing unnecessary files can help improve device performance.
  • Fixing time sync: Maintaining accurate time synchronization across devices is essential for many services.
  • Resetting DNS cache: Clearing the DNS cache can resolve issues with accessing network resources.

Monitoring Remediation Results in Intune Reports

Intune offers reports that show the status of remediation runs, including successes and failures. You can review these reports to verify that your scripts are working as intended and make adjustments if necessary.
